Understanding Infertility

What is Infertility?

Infertility is defined as the inability to conceive after one year of unprotected intercourse, or the inability to carry a pregnancy to term. This definition is reduced to six months for:

  • Women over 35
  • Women with a history of painful periods, irregular cycles, pelvic inflammatory disease and miscarriages
  • Couples who know that the male partner has a low sperm count

Infertility affects 6.1 million Americans. This means that at some point, one out of every six couples will have a problem with infertility. However, advances in assisted reproductive technology [ART] have made it possible for the vast majority of couples who have been diagnosed with infertility to fulfill their dreams of having a family.

If you're having trouble conceiving, rely on our medical team for help. We can provide assessment and initial medical management of infertility, in the privacy of our office. Plus, each doctor takes a sensitive, understanding approach to this issue and stays committed to helping you to make your dream come true.
